Many companies are in search of professional development courses for their employees.
Often, they are uncertain about what they are looking for, or what type of course is best. A sales course, a course in presentation techniques, a course in negotiations and negotiating techniques, or a course in argumentation?
There are many such courses available, and most of the courses in the market have a foundation in rhetoric. Few people are aware of this, and most people therefore do not focus on the big picture.
Our work at Retorisk Institutt AS springs from Aristotle, and the knowledge he brought to light. We have adapted this knowledge to our time, and have designed different courses and seminars. You can find detailed information about these courses by clicking on the links to the respective courses in the left margin.
Our courses focus on exercises, utility and tools. They also examine rhetorical knowledge, and provide a comprehensive picture of the process of persuasion.
The Basic Course in Rhetoric requires active participation, and participants learn up to ten specific tools that they will master once they have completed the course. Training is a major component of the course, helping participants express themselves more clearly, become more confident, and gain greater credibility.
In addition to providing in-house company courses, every six months we hold three open courses in rhetoric in Oslo. You can find more information about them on the "Open Courses" page. Open courses are suitable for companies that want to "try us out" or when a small number of people want to take a course. This page also lists the dates of our open courses in presentation techniques.
We also offer short seminars on rhetoric, which can be an exciting starting-point for companies that want to learn a bit more about some of the different aspects of rhetoric.
If the Basic Course in Rhetoric has whetted your appetite, we also have a Seminar on Argumentation related to products and services, and one that covers handling objections and counter-arguments.
